UA Innovation Scholar Awards

UA Innovation Team logo featuring a lightning bolt shattering a lightbulbDo you have an idea for making your online class more engaging but need funding or expertise to get it off the ground?

Innovation Scholar award programs give online teaching faculty and content experts the opportunity to benefit from technology funding and Innovation Team consultation and support toward a proposed Innovation project

Scholars will present their ideas at the Online Learning Innovation Summit (OLIS) on February 1, 2019.

Award Programs

Each year, the Innovation Team will accept applications for one of three UA Innovation Scholar opportunities. The Innovation Scholar awards are part of a tiered program, designed to honor and support innovation at all levels:

  • The Innovation Scholar in Residence program is aimed at faculty whose innovation projects are designed for broad impact throughout every portion of a course, or across multiple courses within a given curriculum.
  • The Innovation Spirit Scholar program is aimed at faculty whose innovation projects will impact particular areas within an online course. These projects may span multiple modules, or might comprise multiple segments or phases that address specific teaching and learning goals.
  • The Innovation Spark Scholar program is aimed at faculty whose innovation projects are designed as “plus one” initiatives to spark student engagement. These projects may be small in scope but bring benefit to students in terms of interaction, community formation, and/or pioneering technologies.
  • The Innovation Scholar Team program is aimed at innovation projects that involve groups of faculty in development, implementation and assessment phases.

The Innovation Team looks forward to working with motivated online teaching faculty who need funding and expertise to get their ideas off the ground.

See the Innovation Scholar Award Programs page for proposal guidelines and stipulations.

The submission deadline is November 5, 2018.
