BamaPulse: A New Service-Learning Platform

BamaPulseThe University of Alabama has adopted a new, state-of-the-art volunteer management platform, GivePulse. This platform will be known to UA and its affiliates as BamaPulse, and it will replace SL Pro, the previous service-learning platform.

BamaPulse is an intuitive and user-friendly online platform used to manage service-learning courses and outcomes while providing a route to track community engagement activity. BamaPulse streamlines the logistics of finding, matching, and managing service-learning opportunities that meet the requirements for courses with service-learning and community engagement components. BamaPulse also has the ability to facilitate student reflections and surveys in order to create a more streamlined process. This will make it easier to measure, understand, and multiply the impact of service in regards to the students, the institution, and the community.

With the single sign-on integration system, faculty will use their myBama credentials to sign in to BamaPulse via bama.givepulse.com or through the GivePulse app, available for smartphones (Search for GivePulse in your app store).

Unlike SL Pro, BamaPulse works in real-time. Classes will be auto-populated into BamaPulse, and community partners will be able to verify students’ service hours at the site location. This will allow faculty to evaluate students’ progress throughout the course of the semester.
